  • New Year: Friday 1 January to Sunday 3 January
  • International Women's Day: Saturday 6 to Monday 8 March

What if a holiday falls on a weekend?

In 2027, Labour Day, Independence Day and Christmas fall on a Saturday, and Boxing Day on a Sunday. Uganda's law does not automatically move these to Monday. The government sometimes declares a substitute day off, and we'll add it here if it does.

Tip: heading to Namugongo for Martyrs' Day (3 June)? Expect heavy traffic on the Kampala–Jinja road from the end of May.
